I have lived in Felixstowe for the past 24 years. I am retired, having worked in computing and then as a teacher and tutor. I have always been passionate about art but gave up pursuing art studies as I was discouraged to continue after ‘O’ levels. I started again about 10 years ago attending a local art group with an excellent tutor who showed me how to paint in oils. I have never looked back. I absolutely love to paint, although from time to time it can be stressful, I mostly find that I can forget my troubles and get lost in the moment. I especially enjoy painting outside ‘en plein air’ where I can paint and chat to passers-by. I have had paintings exhibited and sold locally and also in the Coloured Pencil Society’s exhibition in the OXO building in London. I have sold some paintings to customers abroad, including the USA, Poland, Turkey and even Milton Keynes! I have had paintings published in the Leisure Artist and Artist and Illustrators magazines. I won a Lockdown competition with the ‘View from my Studio Window’. I have also written a ‘Tips and Techniques’ article for ‘Painters Online’.
Last, but not least, I have taken part, as a Wildcard, in the Landscape Artist of the Year competition.

I feel that I have not yet fully developed my style. As with most things I am still learning. I have attended several courses and workshops in order to gain confidence and expertise in using the materials and techniques, not just with oil painting, but more recently with charcoal, watercolours and pen and ink. As well as painting I love cycling and travelling abroad, especially on trains. Quite often combining the two. As I have got older, I have progressed to cycling an electric bicycle. You can often see me out and about, on my bike. loaded up with all my art paraphernalia!
